2020 has taught me to look for the silver linings. In my last blog, I gave reference to big things that are coming our way at Adventures Guatemala. With the pandemic, our once packed schedules were wiped clean, and I believe that is because the Lord had greater plans….
The heartbeat of our Base, since its inception, has been to align our purpose with God’s and deeply connect with His movement. A vision God has laid on our hearts is that His next wave of missionaries is coming out of Latin America. That Guatemala, a country that has been a receiver of missionaries, is now ready to send out its own.
Through our ministry in church activation and hosting various Adventures’ teams, we have seen God stirring the hearts of His people to go and make disciples of all nations. We want to honor the calling over their lives by providing the support and training needed to be sent out.
As a staff, we have sensed His leading to expand and take new steps to make this vision possible With that being said, Adventures Guatemala is launching an 18-month program to both nationals and internationals that have a desire to be both activated and sent into their kingdom calling.
After much prayer and numerous strategic meetings, we believe that this can be accomplished by discipling and equipping our participants through biblical, missiological, and experiential training. We plan to do so by following a curriculum that includes accredited seminary training, language learning, hands-on ministry experience, and an array of differing opportunities. Our objective for participants, once they complete this training, will be to launch them into the nation of their calling.
Our program is called Hineni (Here I am Lord Send me) Immersion in Missions and its pioneer class is set to launch on January 28th, 2020. We are currently raising scholarships for our Latin American Participants and if you felt lead to give can do so here.
I am so grateful to be able to be a part of this. When I first came to the Base in 2013 I was introduced to this vision and now to actually be able to come back and see this come to fruition, is a huge honor and extremely humbling.
If it wasn’t for this pandemic, we would have never been able to dedicate the time to create this and then launching this program. It’s quite evident that you can have all the plans but the Lord might have something else in mind.
His plans are always better!
